Who should deliver the 360 degree feedback?

How 360 degree feedback is delivered has a significant impact on how the message is received and the ultimate effectiveness of the process.

Think back to times when you have received feedback. Some of them might have been constructive, but we often find that feedback is not often delivered as constructively as it could be. In fact, the way the 360 degree feedback is delivered is usually behind why people say they ‘have had a bad experience of 360 before’.

Ideally, we recommend that the person delivering the feedback should be impartial (i.e. not the person’s boss). They should also obviously be skilled in facilitating feedback. In most organisations the people giving feedback tend to be HR Business Partners or learning and development professionals. In other organisations they retain external coaches.
